The Lancaster Chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association had seven repeat winners in age division play during the LJGA’s second tournament at the Chester Golf Club on Monday.
“T” Sutton, in the boys and girls 6-7 age group, tied for first as he and Mason Sowell each carded a 22 over five holes. For the season, Sutton has 50 points, while Sowell follows with 45.Jacob Cato placed second, shooting a 27, four shots off his opening tournament score. Caleb Henson and Austin Evans each followed with a 29.Cato is third in the overall points with 33 and Henson follows with 32.Brady Hinkle carded an 18 over five holes to repeat as the boys 8-9 age division winner at Chester. Hinkle has 50 points to date.Michael Williams had a 27 to place second, with Latavius Woodard and Brent Caldwell a close third with a 28 apiece.Williams and Evan Hardin are tied for second in the overall points with 36 each. Matthew Sweatt is third with 23.Hayden Thorne, in the girls 8-10 age division, was at the top again, but she tied for first after she and Bailey Evans each finished with a 25. Thorne leads in the overall points with 50.Evans is a close second with 45 for the 2008 season.Emily Cox was close, shooting a 27 for second place at Chester over five holes. Ina Roberts followed with a 41. Cox is third in the overall points with 40.In the girls 11-13 age group, Alexandrea McCain posted a second straight win with a 46 over nine holes from the red tees. McCain’s win put her at 50 points for the season.Samantha Melton followed with a 51 and Victoria Rollins had a 62.Hannah McCain is second in the overall points with 33 and Rachel Hovis is third with 21 points on the season.Haley Heath aided her points lead in the girls 14-18 age division with a win at Chester after shooting an 87 over 18 holes. Heath has 50 points to date. Kendall Boone followed with a 103 and Madison Morgan had a 124.Boone, for the season has 20 points and Morgan follows with 16.The boys 10-12 age group featured a tight finish at Chester.Points leader Jacob Bailey shot a 41 as did Sam Caldwell and Evan Faile to tie for first.Matthew Terry followed with a 44 and Garrett Crenshaw shot a 45 for third over nine holes from the red tees.Bailey paces the overall points with 50 and Caldwell is second with 45. Faile follows with 41 and Terry has 40.Ben Miller captured a second straight win, shooting a 74 over 18 holes from the white tees. Miller leads the boys 13-14 overall points with 50.Jalen Terry was second at Chester with an 81 and Austin Terry along with Alex Eliades – 88 each – finished third.Jalen Terry has 40 points for the season in second, with Austin Terry and Dalton Bradley deadlocked for third in overall points with 29 apiece.Buford High School golfer Taylor Banks fashioned a 72 over 18 holes from the championship tees in the boys 15-18 age division to win at Chester.Trevor Banks shot a 74 to take second and Corey Robinson followed with a 77.Trevor Banks heads the division points with 45 and Taylor Banks follows with 41 points. Robinson is third with 36 points.
