It is unfortunate to think of John Spratt as a “friend” of our district. Friends do not let government spending spiral beyond imaginable numbers.
Friends do not support ineffective legislation or inefficient government and then expect you, their “friend,” to pay for it all. Neither do friends support legislation that has the long term effect of eroding the support and structure that has permitted this country to prosper through private business and individual freedoms.
Indeed, no one needs political friends like John Spratt for he is guilty of these missteps and many more. What Spratt has accomplished for the people of this district is a continuance of the flawed political ideology that has derailed this country and created the economic situation we now face for the next two generations.
After 28 years of opportunity, Spratt has failed to plan for this rainy day and instead, has put the burden on you and me – that’s not very friendly.
So I ask, given the present state of high unemployment, obscene government spending and lack of meaningful job creation, what exactly has Spratt done to earn your vote and why would you support a candidate who has failed to plan for these difficult years?
People in the 5th District are pretty glum about the current situation and need a new candidate who offers a fresh perspective and strong will to make the painful changes that must be made. New leadership can reenergize the country, generate a pro-business climate and drastically reduce spending and the size of government. Yes, laying off federal employees would be a good first step, since you and I are paying for them to hold non-deducted high paying jobs with full healthcare and retirement benefits.
The federal employee is on the government dole at our expense; you and I pay their way, not them.
This election is about far more than pork barrel money for local interests or hiring a few more people to federal temporary jobs. These things are small potatoes compared to the real issues at hand. As an example, we need 250,000 new jobs per month for the next five years just to recover; not the paltry number being advertised under the current jobs program.
In part, this election is about reversing the damage that Washington has done; that damage is responsible for eliminating your job, making healthcare harder and costlier than ever to get and ensuring the continuing division of income classes – the poor, the struggling and the wealthy.
As a country, we must take a new step in the right direction. Mick Mulvaney offers fresh insight and will fight to achieve the needed reforms to clean up the egregious spending and bureaucracy of Washington. He will support legislation that rewards businesses for hiring people and doing business here in the U.S. He will limit additional legislation to meaningful rules that have lasting benefits for the people and the country.
Mulvaney will work to give you and me opportunity for work, savings, home and retirement and at the same time, ensuring a reenergized and vibrant country.
The best friend is one that gives everyone opportunity to grow and succeed. Mulvaney will do this and more.
