Buford had a tough night on the hardwood in a road trip to Weddington, N.C., High School on Monday night.
The host Warriors took two from the Jackets.
The Weddington boys completed the sweep with an 88-41 win over Buford.
Ben Bachan hit 23 to pace the Warriors. Bennett Rutherford netted 14 and Ryan Langrin tallied nine.
Buford was led by junior post player Marcus Brown who scored 11 points. Qua Truesdale and Logan Segee scored seven points each.
Desmond McGriff finished with four and Jacob Jamison netted three. Jonathan Soliman, Mikeem McKinney, Brett Estridge and Tony Blackmon each netted two points.
Senior Seth Chapman chipped in a point.
“I really was disappointed in our overall play tonight,” BHS coach Neil Couch said. “We were not on our game. We can play better and we will.”
In the opener, the Lady Jackets fell behind 19-0 in the opening period before they got on track.
Weddington led 34-17 at the half after BHS outscored the Lady Warriors, 17-15 in the second period.
Weddington held a 51-26 edge going into the final period before posting the 29-point win.
“The difference in the game was in the first period and we know that’s an area we have to work on,” BHS girls coach T.J. Armbrust said. “We need to have a better start. I was proud of our effort over the final three periods. I thought we have a good defensive effort.”
Carley Bailey led the Lady Jackets with 15 and Kendall Boone hit nine. Erica Blackmon tallied four. Hannah Knight and Brittney Faulkner each had two points. Daphne Honeycutt added one point.
The Yellow Jackets host Class A foe Great Falls High School on Friday night at 6:30. GFHS swept Buford in the first hoops clash.
