Poster contest for 2013 Fire Expo stresses safety in the kitchen

By Greg Summers

The Lancaster Fire Department isn’t looking for sponsors’ names to paint on the side of its fire engines, but it does have two spots available for an aspiring young artist.

To celebrate 2013 Fire Prevention Week and the 19th annual fire expo which is Oct. 12, the fire department is holding a “Prevent Kitchen Fires” poster contest for elementary school students age 5 through fifth grade. The winning poster will be cut and printed into magnetic decals donated by Rapid Signs that will be displayed on two firetrucks in the upcoming year.
