When the Indian Land Recreation Center was built many years ago on a “shoestring budget” to quiet the growing population, the access drive was insufficient and certainly didn’t match what would be required of a private developer.
During the school year, buses squeeze to get in, parents heading to the facilities frequently come dangerously close in both directions, and the visibility and road entrance width are, without question, insufficient.
Making matters worse and even more unsafe, the trees on the south side have been allowed to grow into the one-lane drive.
Isn’t this obvious to the rec people and those responsible for our county facilities? Are we waiting for another accident or injury to occur where the county will be liable for this dangerous set up?
To those responsible: Please wake up and provide Indian Land residents with safer and better-maintained facilities.
