Icy road conditions, which postponed classes in the Lancaster County School District on Tuesday, also put a halt to high school winter sports action for Tuesday night.
County school district policy calls for the cancellation of school-related events with the postponement of classes.
Lancaster High School athletic director Mark Strickland said the Bruins had two events canceled for Tuesday night.
LHS’s Region IV-AAAA road basketball game with Ridge View High School was postponed to Saturday at noon.
The tripleheader at Ridge View includes the junior varsity girls, varsity girls and boys.
The Bruins’ region wrestling match with Rock Hill was also reset and will be held Monday as part of a three-way home match.
Lancaster wrestles Rock Hill at 5:30 p.m., with the non-region match with Fairfield Central of Winnsboro to follow.
Strickland said the Bruins’ annual fall sports awards night, set for tonight at 6, will be held as scheduled in the LHS auditorium.
Andrew Jackson High School’s Region IV-AA home basketball game with Central High School of Pageland on Tuesday was canceled and will be reset at a later date. Andrew Jackson High principal Mary Barry said Volunteers’ boys basketball coach Dale Reeves will confer with Central High officials on a date to reset the game with the Eagles.
The Vols’ fall sports banquet, set for tonight, has also been reset and will also be held at a later date.
Buford High School’s home game with North Central High School has been moved to Thursday with a tipoff time at 6 p.m.
BHS boys basketball coach Jeff Moyer said the Jackets are also looking to play their two junior varsity games with Indian Land as part of a quad-header on Friday with the regular scheduled games with the IL varsity teams.
Indian Land athletic director Mike Mayer said the Warriors’ road game with Chesterfield was postponed Tuesday night and will be played Thursday night at 6.
The Warriors’ wrestling match with Cardinal Newman on Tuesday, which was designated as IL wrestling parents night, has been canceled and no make-up date has been set.
The Warriors’ after school weights are scheduled to resume today at 3:30 p.m.
