Purple bows in memory or honor of cancer patients will soon be appearing on businesses and homes across Lancaster County.

Hospice Care of South Carolina’s local Relay for Life team is selling the bows to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

The Relay for Life team hopes every Lancaster County resident touched by cancer will be able to feel the support of the community when they see purple

bows on mailboxes, doors and lampposts across the county.

“We see the sad side of cancer every day in our work,” said Bob Platt, patient care coordinator at Hospice Care of South Carolina. “We are honored to have

the opportunity to work for a cure and to show our support for cancer survivors.”

Bows may be bought at the Hospice Care of South Carolina office at 412 N. White St. between 9 a.m. and noon Monday through Friday.

Arrangements for delivery of orders of more than five bows may be made by contacting hospice’s Relay team captain, Anita Shirley at 285-2014.  All checks should be made payable to the American Cancer Society.
