I thank The Lancaster News for sharing the Scripture (Luke 2:1-20) in the Dec. 25 edition.
There should be one small correction, please.
“Christmas” is not in Scripture, but an invention of the Roman Catholic Church, as the actual birth date of the Messiah is not in Scripture.
The word “Christmas” is a combination of the words “Christ” and “Mass.”
The word “Mass” means death and was coined originally by the Roman Catholic Church.
The story of Jesus’ birth certainly is in Scripture (Luke 2:1-20), but the invention of Christmas came many years after his birth.
If God wanted us to celebrate the birth, wouldn’t he give the exact date and how to celebrate it in Scripture?
