HEATH SPRINGS – If the town proceeds with a sidewalk project at an L&C Railway right-of-way juncture, it could be liable for injuries along the railroad for years to come, leaders said at a recent council meeting.
On Tuesday, Nov. 19, Heath Springs Town Administrator Tony Starnes told council he recently called L&C President Steve Gedney to ask what was required to move a proposed sidewalk project forward. However, Starnes strongly urged the council to closely review the town’s right-of-way contract with the railroad before making a definitive decision.
