INDIAN LAND – Healing Horses held a festival and fundraiser Dec. 7 at Larkspur Ranch to raise money for the hay bank.

Many horse owners are having trouble buying feed and hay for their horses.

When they approach Healing Horses with a demonstrated need for assistance, they are able to get help with hay and feed over the winter.

Healing Horses is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of area horses that are victims of trauma or abuse.

Last summer, Carolina Gateway ran the story of Ginger and Black Beauty, two horses who had been rescued by the organization. Today, both horses are healthy and thriving.

The festival was held in memory of Black Beauty’s baby, who was stillborn. Ginger has also had a baby, Lakota Merry Legs, who is a lively little colt.

If you would like to donate to Healing Horses and the Hay Bank, send your check to Healing Horses c/o Project HALO, P.O. Box 667924, Charlotte, NC 28266. All donations are tax-deductible.
