Gregory best chance to retain resident senator

-A A +A

We will have the opportunity of an exciting election soon, returning Greg Gregory to the S.C. Senate. Greg, a respected and successful businessman in Lancaster, is president of Builders Supply. We who have followed his career recognize his interest in both community and state activities.
Greg served as our senator from 1992 until he retired in 2008. He did a remarkable job during those years in following his belief to the letter. For instance, he was instrumental in ridding our state of video poker and in striving for the restructuring of state government so that there would be more accountability than previously.
He chaired the Senate Fish, Game and Forestry Committee and served on the Corrections and Penology Committee, the Education Committee and the Judiciary Committee.
He had a strong voice in many other Senate activities, doing a thorough job in each position.
In July of 2009, his statewide reputation for excellence was recognized when he was appointed a member of the board of trustees of the University of South Carolina.
The reapportionment issue will arise this year and the district lines will be drawn. Greg represents the best chance for Lancaster County to retain a resident senator.
His prior good relationship with the other senators will improve our odds of not losing the District 16 seat to another county.
I urge you to join me in voting to send Greg Gregory, an experienced and proven man, back to the S.C. Senate.
