GREAT FALLS – A public political forum is planned for candidates vying in the Great Falls Town Council election.

The forum will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. April 3 at the Great Falls High School Little Theater.

The forum will be sponsored by the Great Falls Home Town Association, the Great Falls High School Student Council, the Great Falls Reporter and The News & Reporter.

Candidates will be given an opportunity to introduce themselves and make personal comments prior to a short round of questions from a moderator.

A brief reception will follow the event and the public will have the opportunity to address candidates.

Twelve candidates will face off in the April 8 election.

The election will be held to fill the office of three four-year council terms and one unexpired two-year term.

There are three candidates vying for the two-year term: Todd Smith, Donna Abernathy Bryan and Darla Wynne.

Nine candidates have filed for the four-year terms: Jarrod Skinner, Randy Beckham, Darryl Washington, Marcus Ray, Jimmy Williams, Joyce Autry, Gene Franklin, incumbent Maxine Wood and Debra Kelly.

Great Falls elects half of its council every two years and council members serve four-year terms.

The terms of Mayor H.C. Starnes Jr., Councilmen H.C. Wright and Kenny Johnson are up for election in 2010.

Great Falls voters will go to the polls April 8 to decide the Town Council races.
