The state of South Carolina did more than pass new laws to hopefully curb underage drinking and punish adults who provide minors with alcohol.
It is also providing local money to make sure these regulations are enforced.
In July, the General Assembly included $1.6 million in its 2007-08 budget for Alcohol Enforcement Coordinators (AECs) in each of the state’s 16 judicial circuits. That funding will create law enforcement teams that will work to make sure The Prevention of Underage Drinking and Access to Alcohol Act of 2007 is enforced.
