FLORENCE – Tristan Faile, a senior third baseman on the Francis Marion University women’s softball team, has been named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District III Team for NCAA Division II.
This is the second consecutive year the Lancaster, S.C., native has earned this honor.
Faile has compiled a 3.86 grade point average as a biology major.  A first-team selection, she now becomes eligible to earn Academic All-American honors, with voting to be done in the near future.
On the field, Faile led FMU in batting (.305 average), slugging (.474 percentage), home runs (5), and runs batted in (30).  She also registered 11 doubles, a .359 on-base percentage, four stolen bases, and a .951 fielding percentage at the hot corner.
She earned first-team All-Peach Belt Conference honors.
A three-year starter and four-year letterwinner, she tallied a career average of .314 in 158 contests, while striking out only 34 times in 510 career plate appearances.
For her classroom efforts, she was named an NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete each of her first three years and was selected to the PBC All-Academic Team in both 2011 and 2012.
The 2013 team has yet to be announced.
She is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma national college athlete honor society and Psi Chi and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. She earned an ADA Academic Achievement Award in 2012, and has been named to the PBC Presidential Honor Roll for 2010, 2011, and 2012 and to FMU Swamp-Fox Athletic-Academic Honor Roll six times.
To be eligible for the Capital One Academic program, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings.
Faile was a softball standout at Andrew Jackson before signing with the Lady Patriots.
