Endangered Catawba also 'scenic river'

-A A +A
By The Staff

We’ve known for years that the Catawba River is a scenic river, but recently it became official. Gov. Mark Sanford signed a bill that formally declares 30 miles of the river, from the Lake Wylie Dam to the S.C. 9 bridge at the Lancaster/Chester county line, as a state-recognized “scenic river.”

It’s the 10th river to get this designation. The designation has great symbolic meaning, as it’s intended to bring greater awareness of what a valuable and picturesque resource we have in Lancaster, Chester and York counties.
