KERSHAW - Central of Pageland used fourth-period charges to notch a sweep of Andrew Jackson in the Volunteers' Conference VIII-AA basketball opener on Tuesday night.
The Lady Eagles scored the game's final five points to notch a 51-48 win. In the boys' game, Central finished strong to take a 56-42 victory over the Vols.
CHS took a 38-28 lead into the final period and outscored the Vols 18-14 for the 56-42 win.
"We didn't play well on offense and missed a lot of easy shots," AJ coach Dale Reeves said. "Central's defense had something to do with that.
