Race boosts Lancaster Dream Team

By Michael Knight

The Drive for the Dream race is set for Saturday night at Lancaster Motor Speedway.

The special race will be helping raise funds for the Lancaster Dream Team Foundation.

The Dream Team Foundation, founded in 2007, is a non-profit organization with a mission to enrich the lives of children with disabiltiies through a variety of activities.

LMS officials say this will be a night these young men and women will not forget.

Lancaster Motor Speedway urges all fans and all of Lancaster County to come out to make this night special for these children.

The LMS action features seven exciting divisions, with the NDRA GM Performance Late Models headlining the show with $1,300 to win and $100 to start the feature race.

The Crate Sportsman drivers will be racing for $1,000 along with Super Street, Pure Street with $100 added to first place.

Vintage and Stock 4 have added $50 to first place and $25 to each heat race winner.

The FWD/UCAR has $50 added to first place. Also, the last place car in the FWD/UCAR Division will receive a free pit pass for next Saturday night.

The LMS staff has put up a challenge to each winning driver of each division. If you donate your winning money back to the Dream Team Foundation, then a member from the LMS staff will pay for your pit pass next week.

Lancaster Motor Speedway also added a special thanks to the following sponsors for putting up extra money on this race – Anthony and Sylvan Pools of Charlotte, Deal 1 Auto Sale, Cherry Auto Sale of Rock Hill, Jerry’s Towing and MRH Photography.

Dream Team T-shirts will also be sold for $12 on Saturday night.

A raffle with raffle tickets sold will also be held. Some of the prizes are a free hair cut at Cathy’s Hair Fantasies, gift basket from Salon Dimensions, $20 gift card from Bi-Lo, large Papa Johns Pizza, $20 gift card nails, oil change at Meinke, $22 gift card from Magic Nails, two dinners at the Shrimp Boat, $75 gift card at Wal-Mart and more prizes.

A Kenny Polston firesuit will be up for sale. This is the same firesuit Kenny Polston wore when he won the 1982 Super World 6 Champion. This is your chance to own a part of LMS history.

Sheet metal from drivers will be auctioned. Jason and Justin Starnes of STAR Graphix have created a Dream Team Foundation sheet metal.

Parents at the front gate this Saturday will have the chance for their kids to vote for the track mascot name. The winning name will receive $25. Make sure your kids have their name on the card, so the name can be announced.

The pit gates open at 4 p.m., with the stands to open at 5. Admission is $12 for the stands and $20 for the pits.

If you missed any of the racing action from this past Saturday night, or from any race this season, Jackie Sims will have DVDs for sale in the pits for $10.
