The Lancaster Dixie Baseball all-star teams will look to continue their success in upcoming state and World Series tournaments.
Ozone stars play in state tourney
The Lancaster Dixie Baseball Ozone all-stars, ages 11-12, are playing in the state tournament in Hartsville’s Byerley Park, Saturday, July 12, through Thursday, July 17.
The Lancaster Ozone stars earned their state bid after winning the District 2 tournament June 26 with a 14-6 win over York at the Gaffney Youth Sports Complex.
Lancaster entered the championship round unbeaten, but dropped a close game to York before rebounding for the 14-6 victory and a bid to the state tourney.
The Lancaster Ozone all-stars play the District V champion from the Pee Dee area on opening day in the state tournament at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 12, in Hartsville.
Opening ceremonies are today, July 11.
The Dixie Baseball Ozone World Series is Aug. 9-14 in Lexington.
AAA all-stars play in state tourney
The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AAA all-stars, ages 9-10, also gained a state berth after winning the Dixie Youth District 2 tournament in Union on July 2.
The Lancaster AAA stars went 5-0, including a 14-3 victory over Clover in five innings to capture the district crown and a state berth.
The AAA stars open state play at 11 a.m. July 19 at the Freedom Florence Complex in Florence.
The AAA state champion advances to the Dixie Youth AAA World Series in Lexington, where the tournament will be held Aug. 9-14.
AA NL stars play in World Series
The state champion Lancaster NL all-stars, ages 7-8, will play in the AA machine-pitch World Series in Texarkana, Ark., where opening ceremonies begin Thursday, July 17.
Lancaster opens Pool B play as it faces the host Arkansas team at 3 p.m. July 18. Lancaster then faces the Alabama state champion at 6 p.m.
Lancaster NL returns to play at noon July 19, when it meets the Tennessee state champion. Lancaster will play the Mississippi state champion at 4:30 p.m. that day and caps pool play at 7:30 p.m., when it meets the Florida state champion.
The top two finishers in pool play then advance to a four-team tournament July 21-22.
The AA stars, in a team fundraiser, will host a men’s league softball tournament Saturday, July 12, at the South Softball Complex.
The entry fee is $200 per team.

A League wins district title
The Lancaster Dixie Baseball A League all-stars notched the District 2 championship in Union, where the Lancaster all-stars took a best-of-five series, 3-1.
The Lancaster A all-stars won the series with a 25-13 victory over the host team.
Lancaster built a 25-0 lead before posting the 12-run victory in the championship contest in Union.
