The Lancaster AAA all-stars stayed unbeaten in the state tournament, taking a 6-3 win over Hartsville on Monday night.Lancaster forged a 6-0 lead and held on for the three-run win over the host team.Zachary Todd squeezed home Austin Rape for a 1-0 lead in the third. An inning later, Scottie Moser ripped a two-run single for a 3-0 lead.In the fifth inning, Gunnar Lucas’ sacrifice bunt scored Alex Brasington who had tripled. Brasington had two hits on the night. Eric Miles’ two-run single extended the Lancaster lead to 6-0.Hartsville scored three runs in the sixth, but Lancaster prevailed.Miles worked two innings and struck out five. He allowed a hit, hit a batter and walked two. Lucas hurled two innings and yielded a hit. The southpaw fanned one. Dylan Robinson struck out two and yielded a walk, two hits and three runs.Hartsville threatened in the first, but Miles responded with two key strikeouts with the bases loaded.Lancaster catcher Evan “Buckshot” Flynn had a stellar defensive game, picking off a baserunner at first and also applied a tough tag for an out at the plate following a tandem relay from outfielder Nick McCloud to Moser and Flynn.“Key hitting, solid defense, strong pitching and tremendous fan support pulled us through with a big win over a talented Hartsville team on its home field,” Lancaster manager Mike Lucas said.Lancaster defeated Surfside Beach 20-0 on Sunday.Gunnar Lucas, who had four hits, tied a state mark for hits in a game. Evan Flynn, who had three hits, tied a state mark for most runs batted in for a game. Alex Brasington and Darius Robinson each had a hit. Lancaster took advantage of 12 walks and six errors.Dylan Robinson and Druw Rollings combined on a no-hitter. Robinson worked two innings and fanned four with no walks. Rollings hurled two innings and fanned two with two walks.On Saturday, Lancaster rolled to an 10-0 win over Mid Carolina.Miles was the winner, teaming with Lucas on a two-hitter. Miles allowed two hits, no walks and fanned two. Lucas, in two innings, struck out two, with two walks and no hits.Brasington led the offense with two hits. Lucas, Robinson, Rollings, Miles and Flynn each had a hit.The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AAA all-stars advanced to the state tournament after winning the sub-district championship and the district crown.Junior all-stars roll onThe Lancaster Dixie Juniors topped Union 10-9 to stay unbeaten in the state tournament in Lexington.Tanner Gardner, who worked five innings, was the winner with six strikeouts. Phillip Stevens hurled two-thirds of an inning.Kaderrious Jackson had two hits and a two-run home run to key Lancaster. Sid Watson also had three hits.Jonah Crenshaw clubbed a double and a single, while Drew Hopper had two hits. Trey Payne, Tripp Wright, C.D. Pelham and Corey McKenzie each had a hit.The Juniors rolled to a 17-0 win over Seven Oaks.Drew Hopper, who hurled two innings, was the winner. C.D. Pelham went two innings and Phillip Stevens worked an inning.Pelham had four hits. Kendall Knight, Kadderious Jackson and Tripp Wright had two hits each. Jonah Crenshaw clubbed a home run. Sid Watson, Marquis Moore, Phillip Stevens, Corey McKenzie, Tanner Gardner and Drew Hopper added one hit each for the winners.Lancaster opened play with a 13-3 win over Dentsville.Tanner Gardner was the winner.Tripp Wright smashed a three-run home run, Drew Hopper had a two-run shot and Jonah Crenshaw clubbed a solo homer.Kaderrious Jackson had three hits and Pelham added two hits.The Lancaster Dixie Juniors qualified for the state tournament as the District IX champion.
