A search for a stolen firearm resulted in the discovery of several pounds of marijuana.

Antwan Shermario Seegars, 21, of 1344 Locustwood Ave., was charged Nov. 26 with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana within proximity of a school. He has since been released from the Lancaster County Detention Center.

Seegars’ arrest stemmed from the investigation of a Nov. 10 burglary of a Cimmeron Road home in which a shotgun was stolen.

Sheriff’s deputies got information about three suspects in the burglary and learned that the shotgun had been exchanged for drugs at Seegars’ home, authorities said.

Deputies searched the Locustwood Avenue home and found about 4 pounds of marijuana, the stolen shotgun, a marijuana grinder, electronic scales, zip-top bags and $1,022.

“It appears that the Locustwood residence had been an active drug house and the shotgun was traded for dope,” Chief Deputy Barry Faile said. “This is a good example of how our investigators and drug agents work together.”

The proximity charge was filed because Seegars’ home is near Erwin Elementary School.

“We are happy to get these drugs off the street and glad to shut down this drug house, especially since it is so close to the elementary school,” Faile said.
