Shoppers stormed the doors at area retailers this year with the start of the 2012 Christmas shopping season known as Black Friday, some even earlier depending where they shopped.
At Belk in Lancaster, shoppers were lined up and waiting when the doors opened at midnight. Many were drawn as much by the chance to win $50, $100, $500 and $1,000 gift cards as they were for the Early Bird sales inside.
Not to minimize the sale items, that is.
