Darlings win district

The Lancaster County Parks and Recreation Darlings American League all-stars defeated the Lancaster National League all-stars, 23-22, to win the Dixie Softball District 2 championship on Saturday, July 6, at the Rodman Sports Complex in Chester County.
Brianna Vincent doubled to drive in two runs to lift the Lancaster County Darlings American League all-stars to the narrow win.
The game was the third time the two Lancaster teams played in the district tournament.
Lancaster AL won the first meeting July 2, when it took a 10-9 win.
The Lancaster Nationals topped the Lancaster Americans, 12-9, on July 3.
In the title game, Lancaster National held a 22-18 lead before Lancaster American rallied for the comeback win.
“We’ve been neck-and- neck all during this tournament,” Lancaster AL coach Jimbo Baker said. “This game could have gone either way.
“I’m glad two Lancaster County teams played for the district championship.
“It shows the strength of our league.”
Lancaster AL, which went 5-1 in the tournament, advances to the state tournament in Iva of Anderson County on Saturday, July 13.
Angels stars rebound
The Lancaster County Angels all-stars stayed alive in the double-elimination state tournament in North Charleston on Sunday, July 7, when they defeated tournament host North Charleston, 9-6.
The Lancaster County Angels dropped a 10-0 loss to Boiling Springs of Spartanburg County in its state tournament opener Saturday, July 6, in North Charleston.
