CPTC nets 25 ribbons in Gastonia track meet

Storm shortens meet

The Columbus Parker Track Club racked up 25 ribbons before a late spring storm sent the Lancaster area youth track team home at a meet in Gastonia, N.C.

The CPTC competed against 1,500 athletes at Ashbrook High School. The coaches staff noted the team is improving as it prepares for the state qualifying meet in Spartanburg.

The ribbons breakdown for the CPTC included 4 firsts, 2 seconds, 6 thirds, 5 fourths, 2 fifths, 3 sixths and 3 sevenths.

The first-place winners included Rekia Polk (10U 200 meters), Kadedra Strain (girls 15-18 high jump), Deshoun Wright (15-18 boys long jump) and David White (15-18 boys 110 high hurdles)
