Three Lancaster County prep football players reaped honors for their banner play at the weekly meeting of the Founders Federal Tri-County Football Coaches Association meeting on Tuesday.
Lancaster High’s A.J. Williams, Indian Land’s Josh Williams and Andrew Jackson’s Bobby Delly received recognition for their week seven play.
LHS’ Williams was named the Division I Defensive Player of the Week with 16 tackles and a caused fumble in the Bruins’ 29-28 overtime win over Rock Hill.
IL’s Williams was named as the Division II Defensive Player of the Week with 12 tackles, a sack and a tackle for loss.
Delly was named the Division II Special Teams Player of the Week with a 90-yard kickoff return in AJ’s 30-24 home loss to Buford.
York had three Division I winners, including Lee Wright (offensive player), Tim Whitson (offensive lineman), and Matt Bostic (special teams player).
Rock Hill’s Diandre Diary (offensive lineman) and Northwestern’s Shug Baxter (defensive line) rounded out the awards.
Lewisville’s Justin Douglas (offensive line) and Laquavion Walls (defensive player) reaped Division II awards along with Chester High’s Derrell Rambert (offensive player) and Abri Tate of Nation Ford (defensive lineman).
Lancaster High honorable mentions were junior receiver C.D. Pelham (offensive player) and senior quarterback Shaq Williams (special teams player).
Indian Land honorable mentions were Rondreas Truesdale (offensive player), Jimmy Locklear (offensive lineman), D.J. Moore (defensive lineman) and Bradley Boone (special teams).
Aaron Payne was AJ’s lone honorable mention for his stellar offensive line play.
