Two county players are competing in the annual North-South All-Star softball games at the University of South Carolina Aiken and Aiken Tech.
The all-star softball games are Wednesday, June 13, and Thursday, June 14.
Lancaster High School pitcher Erin Walker is a member of the North-South Class AAAA-A all-star team, while Andrew Jackson High outfielder Ashley Williams is on the Class AA-AAA North team.
Walker earned her share of honors this spring.
The LHS softball MVP, Walker, 16-13, also earned the Region III-AAAA Player of
the Year. She also was selected to the Class AAAA all-state team.
The Lady Bruins, the region runner-up, went 16-15 this spring when it won the Class AAAA District I title and advanced to the Class AAAA Upper State championship series.
Williams, who has signed to play at USC Lancaster, played four years with the Lady Vols.
She hit .388 with a .428 on-base percentage this spring.
She drove in 19 runs and led the Lady Vols with 44 runs scored. She also
had 24 stolen bases and handled 44 of 46 defensive chances.
The AJ girls, ranked No. 7 in the final Class AA state poll, finished 25-5.
The schedule has the Class AAAA-A North facing the Class AAAA-A South at 6 p.m. Wednesday, with the Class AAA-AA South facing the Class AAA-AA North in the nightcap.
The two winners play for the championship Thursday when the two losers play in the consolation round.
