County recreation football stars slated to kick off postseason play

Mites, Small Fry stars in playoffs

The 2010 Lancaster County Parks and Recreation Commission youth football all-stars open play Tuesday night at two different locations.

Lancaster County fields all-star teams in the small fry (ages 9-10) and mite (ages 11-12) leagues.

The small fry South stars open play at Lancaster Memorial Stadium where they will face Fort Mill at 6:30 on Tuesday.

Kris Self is the South stars coach after leading the Hair Xpression Jackets to an 8-0 record and the South Division title, the team’s third straight.

The B’s Tees Stingers finished second in the South small fry division.

The second game Tuesday has the South mite all-stars meeting Fort Mill at 8 in Memorial Stadium.

Robert Lloyd is the South mites all-star coach who guided the Camp Creek Grocery Stingers to a 6-2 finish and the South division championship. The Lancaster Pawn and Jewelry Jackets were the runner-up squad.

The North small fry and mite all-stars will play in Winnsboro at Fairfield Central High School where the small fry stars play Fairfield County in a 6:30 p.m. game on Tuesday.

Marc Stinson, the North small fry coach, guided the Lancaster County Natural Gas Hurricanes to an 8-0 record.

The Funderburk Associates Panthers finished second.

The North mite all-stars, ages 11-12, play Fairfield County at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

 The North stars are led by Marcus Shropshire, who led the Matt Blackwell Foundation Wildcats to the regular-season title.

The Palmetto Flooring Seminoles finished second.

The pee wee division, ages 7-8, doesn’t field an all-star team, but the Pepsi Jackets, led by coach Brent Stogner, won the crown, with the Safe Driving Academy AJ Vols finishing second in league play.
