The most recent unemployment rate for Lancaster County has dropped again, mirroring the biggest one-month drop in South Carolina since officials started tracking data in 1976.
Lancaster County’s rate was 6.3 percent, a drop from 7.9 percent in January. The last time it was below 7 percent was 2002.
That recent number is a far cry from June 2009 when the county’s unemployment rate peaked at 18.6 percent.
