County athletes look to state meets this weekend

A host of county athletes will be seeking state titles at the state track meets at Lower Richland High School on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11.
Indian Land has several athletes who will be competing for state crowns in the Class AA state meet.
Destiny Todd, who won the 800-meter run in the Class AA Upstate meet, will run in that event and with the 4 x 800 team which includes Imani Jernegan, Morgan Engstrom and Tianah Miller.
Senior James Gregory, who finished fourth in the Class AA Upstate meet, will be running in that event at the state meet.
Shayna Fairclough, third in the 400, will also run on the 4 x 400 meter team which was second in the Upstate meet at Landrum High School on May 4. The relay team includes Malasia Reed, Imani Jernegan and Todd.
Buford High School had two athletes qualify for the state meet, including freshman Autumn Rabon, who placed third in the high jump with a 4-8 effort.
Alex Blackmon, a sophomore, finished fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:42.
Lancaster High School sophomore Yasmine Robinson will compete in the state meet Friday.
She qualified in the discus with an effort of 109-7 to place third in the Class AAAA Upstate meet.
Andrew Jackson senior Raheem Carter will run in the Class AA state meet after placing fourth in the 400-meter dash at Landrum High on Saturday, May 4.
