Buford High School will host the opening round of the second annual Comporium Preseason Baseball Invitational on Saturday at the Jackets’ Buford Park.

Tournament newcomer Lancaster meets Ridge View at 10 a.m., followed by Andrew Jackson against Central at noon.

The skills competition is at 3 p.m.

Parkwood meets South Pointe at 4 and Indian Land battles Buford at 6:30.

Tournament play continues Monday with games on tap at Buford and Andrew Jackson.

Play at Buford on Monday has Indian Land facing Parkwood at 4:30 p.m., with BHS meeting South Pointe of Rock Hill at 7.

Play at Andrew Jackson on Monday has Ridge View meeting Central at 4:30, with AJ facing Lancaster at 7.

In action at Buford on Thursday, South Pointe battles Indian Land at 4:30, with Buford meeting the Parkwood Rebels at 7.

The Thursday play at AJ has Central battling Lancaster at 4:30, with AJ facing Ridge View at 7.

The finals are set for Saturday at AJ where the top finishers during the week will play.

The fourth-place teams will play, followed by the third-place teams, the second-place teams and the two pool winners.

Comporium is the event sponsor, while Founders Federal Credit Union is the corporate sponsor. The associate sponsors are Cauthen Motors and Crenco Food Stores.

“We appreciate our sponsors and we hope the area fans will turn out to see their teams in action and follow some good competitive baseball,” said AJ coach Mike Lucas, who along with Eric Funderburk is serving as the tournament director.

 “We have a good field with our four county schools, so I feel the fans will see some good baseball,” Funderburk said.
