Community rallies to help with fundraiser

-A A +A

On Oct. 26, the Buford chapter of the Future Educators Association held its fourth annual Powder Puff Football game. This game was a fundraiser for the chapter. We plan to travel to Baltimore in February and the money raised will offset the cost for student travel.
We’d like to thank the Buford community for making this event a success. Steven Daigle and Jordan Whitaker ran the sound booth, while Michael Childers was our eyes on the field. Mike Wells, Britt Wells, Tripp Watts and Seth Chapman served as our officials. Our coaches included Neil Couch, Garrett Hammond, Chris Timmons, Zach Newton, Fuzzy Bass and Robert Lloyd. Doug Deese provided our game security. We had four teams made up of 60 Buford High School girls in grades nine-12.
Our chapter members donated food to sell in the concession stands and most of the 33 members either played in the game or worked at the game.
Sheriff Barry Faile was the concession stand cook during the entire game. FEA parents worked shifts in the concession stand to help us.
Our event sponsors included Camp Creek Grocery, DC Cycle, Lyles Motors, Lisa Fay Face Paint, Fay Engineering Consultants, Ray’s Flowers and Langley’s Collision Center.
Thanks again to everyone who attended or helped with this game.
