GREAT FALLS - Come celebrate the Colonial period in upstate South Carolina at the sixth annual Colonial banquet, sponsored by the Great Falls Home Town Association.

This sixth annual banquet and auction will be held March 1 at the Great Falls War Memorial Building to benefit the Battle of Beckhamville re-enactment and the work of the GFHTA. The event will begin with a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

After the meal, a live auction will be held featuring a wide variety of items, including art work, hand-crafted items, bed and breakfast stays and antiques.

Before and during dinner, 18th century period music will be presented by Alexander's Old Field Band and singers. A variety of musical instruments will be used in the performance.

The meal will be made from recipes of the Colonial period. Arlene Mackey of Great Falls is the chef and she uses 18th century recipes for the menu. Mackey has studied 18th century food preparation and foods extensively.
