INDIAN LAND – Inspiration Ministries celebrated the opening of its International Prayer and Welcome Center on Feb. 28-March 1. The event marked the completion of Phase I of its City of Light world missions ministry outreach and partners center in Indian Land.

Hosted by Inspiration Ministries’ chairman and CEO David Cerullo, the event was telecast live to more than 114 nations through the INSP-The Inspiration Network and Inspiration Network International.

More than 600 people attended the grand opening, the first event open to the public at the new City of Light.

Special guests included many local and regional political dignitaries, and several of today’s most distinguished religious leaders, including Pat Robertson and Morris Cerullo. Special music was provided by Judy Jacobs, Alvin Slaughter, Alicia Williamson Garcia, the Christ Tabernacle Choir and Lindell Cooley.

The opening of the 40,000-square-foot state-of-the-art International Prayer and Welcome Center launches a new phase in the history of the ministry.

David Cerullo said the new facility will be a boon to this fast-growing area just south of Charlotte.

“When we announced plans to build the City of Light, I commented that this will bring heightened visibility to the region,” David Cerullo said. “We will be beaming programs throughout the world from our new South Carolina home, and one day will be bringing thousands of people every week to our headquarters.

“The chapel in our Prayer and Welcome Center will enable us to begin holding live events, most of which will be open to the public,” David Cerullo said.

The first of these events was held Feb. 28, with a live worship event. Live “Campmeeting” telecasts were produced March 2-7.

David Cerullo said that, in the coming months, the chapel will host many concerts, TV productions and other special events. A special Web site has been established, www.thecityoflight.com, to provide information about events at the City of Light.

“We want to serve as a resource to communities on a local, national and international level, whether it is providing a private environment for people to pray, a place for ministries to host conferences and events in our chapel, or a safe environment to meet with family and friends and enjoy Christian books and music,” David Cerullo said. “We believe that the International Prayer and Welcome Center will be an important resource for the community for years to come.”

The Inspiration Bookstore and Inspiration Café will be open Monday-Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and during special events.

The private prayer rooms will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The campus will include an international media training and production center, designed to train and equip “media missionaries” from around the world in state-of-the-art methods and techniques for using media to communicate the gospel in their native lands.

Planned facilities also include a tea house and conference center for its women’s ministry, youth evangelism and children’s evangelism centers and a state-of-the-art pavilion for concerts and events.

The campus is expected to take up to 10 years to complete.
