Mary Reid, who wrote the letter, “Ability to vote is a privilege,” in the Sept. 23 edition of The Lancaster News, is correct in saying that we should vote. She tries to blame the problems on former President George W. Bush. When Democrats took over full control of Congress in January 2007, unemployment was 4.6 percent and the debt just over $6 trillion.
Within a year, both numbers escalated rapidly and have worsened ever since, including the subprime mortgage meltdown and resulting foreclosures.
