The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that sent five people to the hospital Wednesday night, Oct. 3.
A 2005 four-door Toyota was traveling south on Country Club Road at about 11 p.m. Wednesday when the driver ran off the right side of the road, said Lance Cpl. Billy Elder of the Highway Patrol.
The car struck a group of trees and then hit two vehicles that were parked on private property – a 1995 GMC pickup truck and a 2003 Chevrolet SUV, Elder said.
The accident happened near the Carolina Creek Drive intersection.
The driver, Quavis Hasty, 22, and one of the passengers, Marquis Moore, 18, were both ejected from the car and taken to Springs Memorial Hospital for their injuries.
They both live in Lancaster.
An unnamed 17-year-old boy and a 17-month-old boy were also taken to Springs Memorial Hospital for their injuries.
Zachary Sturgis, a 20-year-old Rock Hill resident, was also inside the Toyota. He was entrapped and then flown to Palmetto Health hospital in Columbia.
The Highway Patrol’s Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) was on the scene Thursday morning investigating.
Elder didn’t say how fast the vehicle was traveling or if the occupants were wearing seat belts.
“The crash is still under investigation,” Elder said. “That is all the details I have at this time.”
