Smith honored at convention
Marilyn Smith, owner and operator of Positive Image in Lancaster, attended the American Massage Therapy Association S.C. Chapter’s annual mini-convention in Myrtle Beach.
Smith participated in the group’s annual business meeting, where she was recognized and awarded with a plaque for 22 years of service. She has been in business in Lancaster since 1991 and specializes in painless Swedish and Lomi-Lomi massage therapies.

Boyd, Outlaw graduate from leadership institute
Stacy Boyd and Melanie Outlaw, both with United Way of Lancaster County, were among the 31 South Carolina residents who recently participated in commencement exercises for the ninth class of the nonprofit leadership institute at Francis Marion University.
Each institute participant received a certificate.
The institute is a seven-month training program for leaders of nonprofits. Topics included program development and delivery, human resource development, including board members and volunteers, effective financial resource development and management, programmatic and organizational issues related to data collection and reporting, visibility, including managing external relations, and case studies.
