A Lancaster woman beat one in a million odds for a $200,0000 South Carolina Education Lottery win this past Friday.
Lottery officials announced Monday, July 21, that one lucky someone bought the winning $200,000 Palmetto Cash 5 ticket at Buford Express Mart No. 6 at 4433 Pageland Highway for the Friday, July 18 drawing.
The winning numbers were 8,16,30,33, 38 and 2, the last number a “Power-Up” multiplier. The five number match resulted in a $100,000 win that doubled to $200,000 with the $1 extra multiplier.
Holly Armstrong of the S.C. Education Lottery said the winner declined publicity when she claimed her ticket Monday – though it was safe to say the Lancaster resident was extremely excited about the win.
“She only spent $2 on the ticket, so she did pretty good,” Armstrong said.
The actual odds of winning $200,000 in the Palmetto Cash 5 drawing are 1 in 1,003,884.
Lottery officials said the single $200,000 winner was one of more than 4,300 Palmetto Cash 5 players in Friday’s drawing who won more than $1 during the drawing, including about 2,600 who spent the extra $1 for the Power-Up multiplier.
