The Buford High School wrestling team improved to 13-8 with a 70-12 win over Lewisville on Tuesday, Jan. 29.
Jacob West, Kyle Norcia, Jeremy Broyles, Matt Bass and Brandon Carnes each posted a pin for the winners.
Dylan Altman and Scottie Moser each added a superior decision in the BHS win.
Buford faces Columbia in the Class AA Upper State duals tournament at Powdersville High School in Greenville on Saturday, Feb. 2.
The Jackets’ road match with North Central on Wednesday, Jan. 30 was canceled after Lancaster County School District officials canceled all after-school activities with the forecast of possible tornadoes.

Warriors take pair
The Indian Land Warriors prepped for the Class AA Upper State duals tournament, taking a pair of wins at Columbia High School on Tuesday, Jan. 29.
The Warriors, 19-10, defeated host Columbia, 41-30 and topped Ninety Six High School, 42-39.
Devin Curtsinger, at 138, was one of five Warriors’ wrestlers who went unbeaten on the night. Curtsinger registered two pins, including a win over a ranked foe.
Eric Komorous, at 170, defeated two ranked foes, posting a pin and a technical fall.
Daylen Byerly, Indian Land’s 113 pounder, went 2-0 with a pair of pins as did Dylan Deese at 220. Taylor Pendleton was 2-0 on the night with a pin.
James Daley went 1-1 with a pin at 120 and David Ovecka, at 182, was 1-1 with a decision.
Chase Cunningham had a 1-0 mark with a pin.
The Warriors, seeded fourth in the Upstate tourney bracket, open the Class AA Upper State tournament as they face North Central on Saturday at Powdersville High School in Greenville.
The Indian Land vs. North Central High School winner will move on to face the winner of the Buford vs. Columbia match.
Bruins place five
Lancaster High School advanced five wrestlers to the Class AAAA Upper State wrestling tournament after the Region III-AAAA tournament on Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Rock Hill High School.
The Bruins who moved on to the Upstate field include Quinshun Evans, runner-up 182; Desmond Hood, runner-up 152; Jeff Reed, fourth 170; Matt Brazzell, fifth 120; and Donte Spates, fifth, heavyweight.
Lancaster, under second-year coach Leon Boulware, finished its dual meet season with a 13-7 record.
