The Lancaster High School baseball team made the most of a rain-shortened game, taking a 7-1 road win over Clover in Region III-AAAA play Friday night.
LHS hurler Evan Byrd, 2-0, worked five frames for the win, allowing five hits, two walks and a run. He struck out one.
LHS, 7-9, 5-5, was led by Bryan Gainer, who had two hits, including a double, and drove in five runs. Nick Ferguson, who had a RBI, had two hits as did Michael Catoe and Jimmie Jordan. Josh Warfield had a hit and Brion Strothers drew a walk and scored twice.
