Preseason baseball tournament

Lancaster, Andrew Jackson and Indian Land were the opening day winners in the second annual Comporium Preseason Baseball tournament at Buford Park on Saturday.

Play in the tournament Monday was postponed to Tuesday due to weather conditions at Buford Park and AJ.

Third-round games will be played Thursday, with the finals Saturday at AJ.

On Saturday, the Bruins blanked Ridge View, 9-0, AJ topped Central 7-5 and Indian Land downed host Buford 3-1.

South Pointe took a 6-1 win over Parkwood of Union County, N.C.

Lancaster shut out the RV Blazers as junior Jordan Brock tossed a no-hitter and struck out eight. He allowed a walk and hit a batter.

Brock aided his cause with a double and RBI. Grayson Snipes doubled and drove in a pair of runs, while Andrew Ferguson had a hit and two RBIs.

Michael Cooper had a hit and a RBI on a squeeze bunt.

Eight of the LHS starting nine scored a run in the win.

LHS also won three different skills competition.

Doopy Cloud won the home-to-home baserunning competition, making it two straight after taking the win at the Gameday at Doomsday Jamboree on Feb. 18.

Kaderrious Jackson won the outfield throw and the Bruins prevailed in the infield quick. The LHS participants in the infield quick competition included Gabe Glover (home), Doopy Cloud (third base), Grayson Snipes (second base) and Jonah Crenshaw (first base).

u AJ downed Central 7-5 as Chandler Neal, who worked two innings in relief, was the winner. He fanned four and allowed four walks and two hits.

Bobby Delly belted a triple and Dustin Eddins had a double and drove in a run. Seth Graves generated a hit and drove in a run.

Sydney Watson drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Corley Faulkenberry, Tripp Rollins and Neal each had a hit for AJ.

Delly won the home run derby, blasting seven.

u Indian Land forged a 3-0 lead on the way to a 3-1 win over Buford.

Ryan Lawson, who worked four innings, was the winner.

Jake Griffin had a hit and Justin Hayes had a RBI on a bases-loaded walk.

Drew Williams also had a RBI for the Warriors.

Cody Gordon, who worked three innings for BHS, yielded three runs, a hit and three walks. He fanned three.

Austin Pate pitched two frames and whiffed two with three walks.

Evan “Buck Shot” Flynn had a hit and drove in a run. Brandon Miles, Kendall Knight, Jay Chambers and James Gardner each had a hit for Buford.
