Bruins swimmers top Rock Hill, York

Fall Sports Playoffs

The Lancaster High swim team posted two impressive wins at the Lancaster County pool on Sept. 8.

The Bruins downed region foe Rock Hill, 155-33 and York, 135.5-48.5. Bree Morgan, Lauren Spencer and Hannah Jacobs led the LHS girls with two wins each. Emma DeVenny added one. Jory Pettit had two firsts for the Bruins. Nathan Spencer, Jonah Faile and Adam Augeson each had one first.

LHS hosted Spartanburg on Tuesday.

LHS cross country

The Lancaster High School girls cross country team improved to 6-3 on the season, topping an eight-team field at North Central. The Lady Bruins paced the meet with the first 11 finishers from LHS.

“That is a very rare feat indeed,” LHS coach Josh Pauling said.

The 5-5 Bruins were third overall, defeating  North Central, McBee, Great Falls, Camden Military and Chesterfield.

LHS netters fall

The Lancaster High School tennis team fell to 4-3, dropping a 5-1 loss to Clover on Thursday.

LHS captain McKenzie Blanton was the lone LHS winner, prevailing in a tight match with a win in the third-set tie breaker. Her foe Elizabeth Edmonds had a powerful serve that was tough to return. Sara Hicks, at No. 1 singles, played a solid match against CHS’s Kate Stewart, winning a number of games.

Rams seek rebound

The A.R. Rucker Rams hope to rebound after an                                               18-6 loss to New Heights last week.

Tyry Brown-Washington scored Rucker’s lone TD on a 10-yard run.

Rucker faces Lewisville today to open a 5 p.m. doubleheader at Memorial Stadium. South, 2-0, faces Fairfield Middle at 6:30.
