Bruins, Jackets posts wins in BHS preseason tournament

Lancaster and Buford each posted wins over county foes on the final day of the Buford Jacket Preseason basketball tournament at BHS.

Lancaster topped county foe Indian Land 70-64 and the host Jackets rallied for a 44-40 win over Andrew Jackson.

Gerard Brace paced the Bruins, who went 2-1 in the tournament, with 22 points and guard Shurdell Wright netted 20 to key the LHS win.

Lancaster led 24-13 after one period and stretched its lead to 36-29 at the break. The Bruins held a 53-49 lead with a quarter to go before posting the six-point win.

Ron Trapps tallied 10 points and Avery Harris hit eight. Terron Truesdale finished with seven. Garrett Thompson hit three.

Indian Land, which went 1-2, was led by Jerel Robinson's 23 points. Terrell Rogers scored 18. Rashad Davis finished with nine. Justin Gordon and Keyadd Miller had six each. Tre' Harvey added two points.

Buford rallied late to take the four-point win over the Vols.

BHS trailed 32-27 after three periods, but used a 17-8 final period flurry to take the win. Donald Kirkley hit two free throws with 17 seconds to play and Qua Reid, who led BHS with 13, hit a bucket to put the Jackets on top to stay.

Logan McDowell scored 12 to boost BHS. Marcus Brown netted six. Andrew Riner and Logan Segee hit four points each. Anthony Williams added three points and Kirkley chipped in two points.

Tremaine Jackson paced AJ with 12. Ryan Miller scored nine and Justin Sellers added seven. Omarr Truesdale, Daniel Wright and Drew Gardner added four each for AJ.

Clover captured the tournament title with a 53-51 win ove Lakewood of Sumter County. Eau Claire downed Lewisville 58-39 in the third-place game.
