Buford, fresh off a 51-47 road upset of No. 8 Lee Central, couldn't pull off another notable win in Conference VIII-AA basketball play Friday night.
The Cheraw Braves scalped the Jackets twice in a league sweep.
The CHS boys, in the nightcap, took a 57-45 win and the Lady Braves notched a 37-33 victory over the BHS girls.
The boys' game saw Cheraw snap a 12-all first-period draw and stay on top for the 12-point win.
The Braves, who fell to Andrew Jackson on Tuesday night, seemed to gain steam as the game wore on.
"Cheraw just wore us down at the end," Buford High coach Jeff Moyer said.
The Braves owned a 28-22 lead at the break and extended it to 38-30 after three periods before taking the win.
"I thought our guys played hard," Moyer said. "At the same time, we shot poorly and passed poorly.
"We need to cut down on our turnovers," he said. "That was a key in the game."
Jaron Brown led the Braves with 19 points, 12 in the second half. Brown had seven points in the final eight minutes to trigger the Braves.
Joshua Henderson added 14 points, eight in the second half. He scored five in the fourth quarter.
Qua Reed led the Jackets, 7-13, 1-4, with 13 points
Jabari Williams scored nine. Blake Larrimore and JoJo Morris netted seven points each.
Andrew Riner scored four. Will Ford and Deon Wright tallied two points each. Donald Kirkley chipped in one.
In the girls' game, the Lady Braves pulled out a 37-33 win over Buford.
The CHS girls led 9-7 after one period, but used a 14-6 second period to take a 23-13 lead at the half.
Buford, which outscored Cheraw 8-3 in the third period, sliced the Lady Braves' lead to 26-21, but CHS held on for the win.
"We played well in the first period, but had that lull in the second quarter and that hurt," Buford coach Michelle Vestal said. "We had some good looks in the game, but just couldn't get our shots to fall at key times."
Brittany McCarter led Buford with 25 points, 13 in the first half. Janay Blackmon hit six. Kendall Boone and Amanda Truesdale added one point each.
Jameka Buchanan led the Lady Braves with 13 points.
Buford High travels to Central High School of Pageland on Tuesday night.
The Jackets visit county foe Andrew Jackson High School on Friday night.
The girls’ game tips off at 6 p.m., with the boys’ game at 7:30.
