Add Linda Blackmon-Brace to the list of candidates who have filed to run for either Lancaster City Council or Lancaster County school board.
Blackmon-Brace, who serves City Council District 3, filed Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 8, said Mary Ann Hudson, the county’s voter registration director.
Blackmon-Brace joins Tamara Green Garris (District 4) and Sara Eddins (District 6) as the three City Council incumbents to file.
Jean Cureton has also filed for District 4.
Those three City Council seats are the only ones up for re-election this year.
For school board, the three incumbents have filed – Margaret Gamble for District 6, Bill Sumner for District 4 and Tyrom Faulkner for District 2.
Potential candidates must file at the Lancaster County Voter Registration office, located in the county’s Administration Building, 101 N. Main St.
The filing period for seats up for re-election began Aug. 1 and ends noon Wednesday, Aug. 15.
You can file Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 to 5 p.m.
The filing fee to run for City Council is $35. There is no filing fee for school board seats.
Hudson said each candidate must complete a Statement of Economic Interests form online with the S.C. Ethics Commission and submit a physical copy of the form while filing at the Lancaster County office.
To access the online form, visit ethics.sc.gov.
City Council and school board seats are non-partisan, meaning candidates don’t run with a political party.
Election Day is Nov. 6.
