I awoke on Nov. 15 at 3 a.m. to a peace that passes all understanding and I had to say thank you Lord, you have been so good to me.
I would like to express my gratitude to the 927 people who cast a vote for Linda Blackmon-Brace for mayor of the city of Lancaster.
To those who voted for their candidates for mayor, may you be equally blessed, also. I’m so thankful for the best grassroots volunteer campaign team: Glenn Brace Sr., Denise Mills, Mary Green, Randolph English, Lavern Kirk, Arlene Grier, Blondale Funderburk, Sandra Blackmon, Ruth McIlwain, Mary Lee Anthony, Salanta Blackmon, Geraldine Smith and Mario McKinney for the hours of work that you put into my campaign.
I’m thankful for having wonderful maternal grandparents, Abe McCain and Lizzie McCain, who raised me after my mother died when I was 4 years old.
They taught me to never stop believing in myself and never forget the people who help me on my journey.
As I turn the next page in my life, I’m thankful for God, my country, my family and those family members who have crossed over on the other side of life for instilling me in how wonderful this world is.
I look not to my own understanding, but what he has for my life. Maybe it is mayor in 2014.
