BHS falls in semis

Cheraw Spring Break

Buford’s run for the Cheraw Spring Break softball tournament championship ended in the semifinals on Tuesday.

Class A Chesterfield edged the Lady Jackets, 4-3 in six innings.

BHS defeated Cheraw and Indian Land before falling to the Lady Rams, 4-3 in a game halted in the sixth inning due to the time limit.

In the one-run loss, Carley Bailey, in five innings, allowed 11 hits, four runs – two earned and no walks. She fanned two.

Kayla Lloyd led the Buford girls with two hits. Catie Rowell had a hit and scored a run.

Mikayla Hannah had two RBIs. Hannah Knight scored a run and had two steals. Bailey tallied a run.

On Monday, Buford blitzed Cheraw, 12-2 in five frames.

Carley Bailey was the winner, striking out three and allowing three hits, three walks and two runs. Bailey backed her cause with two hits, two RBIs and scored a run.

Catie Rowell had two hits, including a two-run home run, and drove in three runs. Kendall Boone had two hits, stolen base and scored a run.

Mikayla Hannah had two hits, including a triple, scored two runs, drove in a run and had a stolen base.

Hannah Knight drilled a hit, scored a run, drove in a run and had a stolen base. Erica Blackmon had a double, stolen base and scored a run.

Carson Mehaffey had a hit, drove in two runs and scored a run. Daphne Honeycutt had a hit, scored twice, drove in a run and stole a base. Kayla Lloyd had a hit, RBI and scored two runs.

Buford downed Indian Land, 4-3 as Kelsi Moser worked seven innings and allowed six hits, three runs – one earned run and a walk.

Catie Rowell led the Lady Jackets with two hits and a RBI. Carson Mehaffey had a hit and drove in two runs. Erica Blackmon had a hit and tallied a run. Kendall Boone, Daphne Honeycutt and Mikayla Hannah each had a hit.

Carley Bailey scored a run and drove in a run. Hannah Knight scored a run and had a stolen base. Kayla Lloyd tallied a run.

Buford, 17-5, opens the Class AA Upper State playoffs on Thursday.

LHS girls fall

The Lancaster Lady Bruins dropped a 7-5 loss to Cheraw to end their hopes in the Spring Break tournament.

Erin Walker took the loss in two innings of work, allowing four hits. She fanned four. Katy Ghent hurled two innings and allowed five hits and a walk. She fanned two.

Ghent led the LHS offense with a triple, single, walk, RBI and scored a run. Claire Brown had two hits, walked, scored a run and was hit by a pitch.

T’Aria Ingram had two hits, while Walker doubled, drove in two runs and scored a run.

Pagan Glenn generated a hit an drove home a run.

Anna Grier had a hit and tallied a run. Elizabeth Gaston walked and scored a run. Angela Sims drove in a run.

Lancaster went 1-2, splitting with Cheraw and falling to McBee.
