BHS drops two in Lake Murray play

Jackets fall to Chapin, Dreher

Buford dropped its second straight loss in the Lake Murray Classic, falling to Dreher 4-0 on Friday night.

Colt Ellis, who worked 5.1 innings, took the loss, allowing five hits, no walks and four earned runs.

Justin Altman went two-thirds of an inning and allowed a hit and a walk.

Ellis had two hits to lead the Buford offense. Cheyne Horton and Jacob Jamison each had a hit for the Jackets.

On Thursday, BHS dropped a 3-1 loss at Chapin.

Dillon Hydrick, who worked two frames, took the loss. Hydrick allowed three runs, two hits, two walks and two unearned runs.

Ricky Lewis also worked four innings, yielding two hits, two walks and struck out four Eagles.

Cheyne Horne led the BHS offense with two hits. Colt Ellis had a RBI-double for the Jackets. Ellis scored Joseph Wright as he drove him home on a double. Wright had reached on an error in the Jackets’ seventh before Ellis delivered his double.

Buford capped play in the tournament, facing Irmo on Saturday, but the game was completed after the deadline for Sunday’s paper.

The Jackets open their season Tuesday with a short bus trip to Class AA Central High School of Pageland.
