Bad Christian attends Vigil Mass on Saturdays

-A A +A

During the past few weeks, there have been letters to the editor criticizing Mick Mulvaney and his fellow Rotarians for cutting the grass along U.S. 521 on a Sunday morning.

The letter writers implied that Mr. Mulvaney is not a “good Christian” because he was performing a community service on a Sunday morning rather than attending a church service.

I assume the letter writers are unaware that Mr. Mulvaney and millions of other Roman Catholics in the United States attend Vigil Mass on Saturday in lieu of Sunday services.

I doubt that this makes them “bad Christians.”

In fact, volunteering to perform a community service seems like a pretty good Christian act to me.

It is also a good indicator of the person’s character and dedication to his community.
