Brittany Aycock views her move to play soccer at the University of South Carolina Lancaster as a “new start.”

“I’m really excited to start my career over at USCL,” said Aycock, a three-year varsity player with the Lancaster High School Lady Bruins. “I’m looking forward to playing with new people in the USCL program.”

During two of those three seasons, Aycock helped the Lady Bruins earn a berth in the Class AAAA Upper State tournament.

Aycock will actually see some familiar faces, including some former LHS teammates along with Buford High School player Danielle Beard, who played with the BHS boys since the Lady Jackets don’t field a team.

Beard signed with the USCL Lancers earlier this spring.

Lady Lancers coach Randy Jordan said he’s glad to have Aycock with the USCL women.

“We’re looking forward to Brittany being a part of our women’s soccer team,” Jordan said. “We feel she will be an asset. It’s always good to add a local player because it helps to build interest and recognition for our team.

“She’s also played some travel soccer, which will help her in the transition into college soccer,” Jordan said. “We’re also adding a good student-athlete.”

Aycock sports a 4.128 grade point average in the LHS Class of 2013.

She played with the U18 girls Lancaster Futbol Club (LFC)  and the team finished second in the state club soccer league last fall.

“That was a good experience for Brittany,” Jordan noted. “The key is to build on that and be ready when we get underway in August.”
