The Lancaster County Parks and Recreation summer swim team program is undergoing exciting changes for the summer season.
The Lancaster County recreation swim program will be divided into two teams, the Lancaster Makos and the Lancaster Tigers.
Dividing the team will help with the length of the swim meets and will help with having equal competition among teams.
The Makos colors are black and gold and the Tigers colors are black and orange.
Anyone who still wants to use a swimsuit, or any other items from previous years may do so. It is not required to purchase a new suit or other clothing items this year.
Midenna Anderson has retired from 15 years of coaching the swim team and will remain on board as the Lancaster County Aquatics Director. The teams will be coached by volunteers as are the rest of LCPR sports.
The swimmers from last year have been divided equally into two teams. New swimmers joining the teams this year will be divided between the teams after registration.
Swimmers will not be permitted to switch teams and placement on a certain team can not be guaranteed.
Anderson divided the returning swimmers equally using freestyle times from the 2010 season.
Registration fees are $40 for the first child, $35 for second child in same family and $30 for the third child in same family.
