The 17th annual Sooper Dooper Pooper and Meet the Bruins will be held Saturday at Lancaster Memorial Stadium.The event begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m.The event includes face painting, concessions and souvenirs to be sold.Pooper tickets will be sold for the cow patty bingo which is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.A year ago, Bud Faile won the $1,000 after Buck the bull, sponsored by local businessman Ben Snipes, had its prized “drop.”The top prize is $1,000. In addition, there will be two $500 winners.Lancaster High season tickets and booster club memberships will be sold.The Lancaster High School band and LHS cheerleaders will perform.The LHS football team, which returned Thursday from four days of preseason camp in Summerton, will be introduced.“We’re at the end of our first full week of practice and this event is a good way to cap things and kick off the season,” Lancaster High School principal Dr. Joe Keenan said. “This is an exciting time of year.”Lancaster Memorial Stadium is located on Stadium Drive adjacent to North Elementary School and a block north of the Lancaster High School baseball field, Doomsday Corner.“This is a community event and we like having it at this point,” said Lancaster Booster Club vice president Shane Caroway. “A few years back, we had it after the jamboree, but it seems to work well in this time frame.“We’ve had outstanding response from the community and I hope it continues Saturday.”Several organizations will set up booths including The Lancaster Women’s Club, American Red Cross, Healthy Woman, Dream Team, Founders Federal Credit Union, Chick-Fil-A, and Mary Kay. Restore and Julian Severance will also perform at the event.
